The first series, in collaboration with my indentical twin, Lee Lee Brazeal

This series began with surfaces LeeLee had set aside. To her they were finished. To me they were beginnings. I cut them apart and layered my marks over hers until the work began to talk back. What I heard was language, the texture of speech, the way things slip out and cannot be taken back. Each painting carries a phrase as its title, fragments of how we actually talk to each other, and over each other, and through each other. LeeLee and I have been each other's first audience since before we could speak. What you are seeing is two voices that have been talking their whole lives, converging into a single resolved form.
